AEF Scholarships: What Argyle ISD Seniors Can Do Before the Next Cycle Opens

The 2026 AEF scholarship window closed April 17, 2026, at 4 p.m. Central, and the next cycle is to be announced. Here is what the four $1,000 awards asked for, and how families and counselors can prepare without treating an old deadline as current.

Read the date status first

As of Nov. 6, 2026, the AEF scholarship page states that 2026 applications are closed. The listed deadline was April 17, 2026, at 4 p.m. Central, and the page says the next cycle is to be announced. Families should not treat that April date as a current opening or assume a replacement date exists. The archived 2026 requirements are best read as preparation material. AEF describes its scholarships as support for college and career training.

Four awards, four directions

The 2026 archive lists four $1,000 scholarships. The CoServ STEM Scholarship is for a graduating Argyle ISD senior attending trade school, college, or university in the fall after graduation and pursuing a STEM-related field. The Rudy Menn Community Service Scholarship requires a 2.5 cumulative GPA or better and at least 100 volunteer hours through a nonprofit organization. The Cantrell Health Science Scholarship is for students interested in health science careers, with listed fields including MD, DO, nurse, NP, PA, PT, OT, dentist, pharmacist, or genetic and medical research. The Sawko Burroughs Scholarship is for students pursuing AI, technology, or skilled trades such as electrical, plumbing, or HVAC, with a 2.5 GPA or better. The page labels its photo as Bella Jefferys, a 2025 CoServ STEM recipient, so the image is archival.

Each essay asks something different

Every 2026 award asked for an essay, but the prompts are not interchangeable. STEM applicants were asked how STEM influenced high school, courses taken, preparation for higher education, and goals, in 300–500 words. Community Service applicants were asked why they became involved, how it influenced their life and goals, community impact, and college plans, in no more than 500 words. Health Science applicants were asked to describe the healthcare field they want to enter and why, in 500 words or less. Sawko Burroughs applicants were asked about career inspiration, the value of skilled work, a work-ethic example, future goals, and scholarship impact, in no more than 500 words.

Documents worth gathering now

The 2026 requirements also point to materials that take time to assemble: colleges or trade schools accepted to, STEM courses completed at AHS, organization involvement, work or internship experience, volunteer hours with supervisor verification, leadership roles, and up to four letters of recommendation. The archived submission instructions asked students to send one email, copy their high school counselor, compile supporting documents into a single file, attach files directly, and avoid Google Drive shared links. A single file and direct attachments are small logistics, but they are the kind of detail that complicates a last-minute submission. Those are 2026 instructions. If a new cycle is announced, confirm current instructions before sending anything.

A calm plan for families

Students can use the pause to keep a simple record: volunteer dates, hours, and supervisors; courses in STEM, health science, or technology and trades; activities and leadership; and possible recommenders. Families can help check those details for accuracy. Counselors can watch for the next cycle announcement. The foundation describes itself as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit created by community members and parents, serving Argyle ISD since 2003. Donors and neighbors can read the scholarship page to see what the foundation supports; AEF reports more than $2.3 million contributed since 2003 and $172,831.22 invested in 2025–2026, with scholarships for graduating seniors among the programs it lists.
